Ventura asks government to prune “infested branches”.

Chega’s leader this Saturday praised the President of the Republic’s Portugal Day speech, called on the government to cut down “the infected branches” and insisted on the existence of an alternative to the right.

“Chega recognizes the message of the President of the Republic and appeals once again to the government that at this time it is not only able to implement the reforms the country needs, but also to support the infected, degraded , destructive branches, which the country must cut down,” defended André Ventura in a video sent to the editors.

According to the Chega leader, “to have a viable government, to have a stable administration”, it is necessary to “remove disturbing and harmful elements”.

“And unfortunately António Costa seems unwilling to make that sacrifice and reform,” he lamented.

Chega’s deputy and leader reaffirmed “the availability, will and belief that there is an alternative majority for the socialist government to run Portugal and lead the country to the necessary reforms”, defending that “this majority must be from the right “. .

Ventura believed that the speech of the President of the Republic “left an important challenge for the government: not to give up development, cohesion and equality”, objectives which in his opinion “the Portuguese government has failed and ignored”.

Considering that “there is no Portugal without cohesion”, Ventura stressed that “the President of the Republic was right in pointing out structural and strategic challenges, at a time when the country has financial resources it probably did not have, and nor will it have in its history, nor in a period of any political stability”.

Chega’s leader accused the government led by António Costa of “wanting to continue on the path of degradation”, ignoring areas such as “corruption, lack of investment in fundamental areas such as health, teachers, education, regional development and even targeting young people”.

“At the same time, the president drew attention to the branches of the tree that must be cut, and it is clear that they must be cut. Ministers such as João Galamba, Fernando Medina, Duarte Cordeiro – some because of the mess they are involved in, others because of suspicions of serious crime, the Portuguese government cannot continue to be discredited,” he said.

Ventura referred to the controversy with the information services, involving the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, and as for the Minister of Finance and Environment, he spoke about the report published in May by TVI/CNN Portugal on the operation ‘Tutti Frutti ‘, which intercepted wiretaps and messages suggesting an alleged “secret pact” between PSD and PS for each party to retain the leadership of certain parish councils in Lisbon in the 2017 municipal elections.

Today, the president of the republic considered it necessary to cut off “the dead branches that reach the whole tree”, warning that, only if you do not want to, “Portugal will not be eternal”.

In his speech at the military ceremony for the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, which took place in Peso da Régua, district of Vila Real, he also said that Portugal cannot give up on creating more prosperity, equality, more cohesion, considering that only this will make it possible to maintain its “projection into the world”.
