Three of the 36 minors withdrawn from the soccer academy are handed over to relatives and legal representatives

Two of the 36 minors withdrawn from the BSports soccer academy, in Riba de Ave, on suspicion of human trafficking were handed over to relatives, the Vila Nova de Famalicão Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) reveals to TSF. In a reply sent to TSFthe CPCJ advances that a third minor was handed over to a “legal representative”.

Regarding the remaining 33 minors withdrawn by the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF), the CPCJ applied, as a matter of urgency, the residential reception measure provided for in the Law for the Protection of Children and Youth in Danger.

What is it for TSF this CPCJ, the promotion and protection processes were sent to the services of the Public Ministry – Family and Minors Court of Vila Nova de Famalicão. Likewise, it remembers that the promotion and protection processes are reserved, so it refrains from providing further information.

After the raids carried out this Monday, the SEF identified 47 victims of human trafficking, of which 36 were minors and nine were young adults. During the operation, two Portuguese citizens and five companies were named defendants.

The searches took place at the Riba de Ave soccer academy and also extended to the house of the now former president of the Board of Directors of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Professional Soccer League, Mário Costa.
