The FPF Disciplinary Council will investigate the case of the BSports academy

The Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced this Saturday that it has opened an investigation process into the case of the BSports academy, which is being investigated for alleged human trafficking.

“Due to the public news and also on social networks, specifically on the BSports Academy Facebook account, the contacts of this entity with Portuguese clubs and the matches played between teams made up of minors integrated into BSports Academy and teams from Portuguese clubs, the CD considers it necessary to clarify the circumstances in which such contacts or games took place”, says the organization.

According to the CD, clarifying the circumstances is essential “to assess the possible disciplinary relevance of conduct possibly attributable to the clubs and their sports agents.”

In a note posted on the FPF website, the CD explains that it decided this Thursday “to open proceedings in both sections of the body (professional and non-professional), in order to clarify the existence of conduct by clubs and sports agents.” . with possible disciplinary relevance, both within professional football competitions and within non-professional football competitions”.

The Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) announced this Wednesday that two Portuguese citizens and five companies have been designated as defendants, in the scope of the investigation into possible trafficking in human beings with an epicenter in a soccer academy in Famalicão.

The raids occurred at a soccer academy in Riba de Ave, Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the Braga district, and also extended to the home of the president of the Board of Directors of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Professional Soccer League, Mário Costa, linked to that academy, who, however, resigned.

This Saturday, the president of the FPF, Fernando Gomes, considered that the dismissal of Mário Costa is insufficient, and revealed that, in 2020, the FPF denounced “indications that it considered suspicious of illegal practices”, by means that it considered to be appropriate.
