A man, a doctor by profession, saw the Porto District Court confirm the decision of the Authority for the Prevention and Combating Violence in Sport (APCVD), which had ordered him to pay a fine of 750 euros for insulting a referee during an insiders match of the Porto Football Association.
The incident took place in a 1st division football match of the under-16 level (initiates), between the teams of Foz FC and Panther Force on December 21, 2021. Dissatisfied with the decision of the assistant referee, Diana Moreira, the man approached the back row, called her “f***” several times and shouted sexist insults like “your place is in the kitchen, that’s where you should be”.
The man had already been sentenced by the Authority for Prevention and Combating Violence in Sport (APCVD) to pay a fine of 750 euros, for “non-compliance with the duty of correction, moderation and respect towards a sports agent”, in in this case the referee.
Disagreeing with the fine, he appealed to the court to challenge the authority’s decision against violence, as the court upheld the penalty imposed by the APCVD in a September 23 decision to which the DN had access. .
Since the start of the activity, in 2019, the body led by Rodrigo Cavaleiro has already registered 1800 convictions, 600 of which were denied access to sports venues. More than 250 supporters are currently banned from live shows, including the three Estoril supporters, who two weeks ago harassed an FC Porto father and daughter team during the seventh round match of the I Liga, at Estadio Coimbra da Mota, between canaries and dragons (1-1).
