Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix this Sunday, the eighth race of the season, and further consolidated his lead in the Drivers’ Championship.
Verstappen gave Red Bull its 100th victory by finishing Gilles Villeneuve’s 70 laps 9.570 seconds clear of Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who was second, with Britain’s Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) third, with 14,168.
This was the sixth victory in eight races already held for the Dutch driver, who now has 195 points, 69 more than the second place, the Mexican Sérgio Pérez (Red Bull), who was only sixth, but did the fastest lap of the career.
