The Prosecutor’s Office (MP) has charged two members of the cheerleading squad of Diabos Vermelhos, who face Benfica, with insulting the physical integrity of two Sporting fans belonging to the cheerleading squad of Torcida Verde, the Attorney General announced on Friday .
According to the note published on the online page of the Lisbon Public Prosecutor, the attacks took place next to the Torcida Verde facilities, near the José Alvalade stadium, in May 2021, “when the victims were carrying objects were Day of the Lion celebrations, honoring Sporting fans who died during the covid-19 pandemic”.
The MP’s accusation states that the two defendants, who would be accompanied by more suspects who have not yet been identified, “went by car to the vicinity of the José Alvalade stadium, stopped next to the offended persons and beat them with punches and attack stairs”. .
The investigation was conducted by Lisbon’s Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) with the assistance of the Public Security Police (PSP).
