The Portuguese duo made up of Afonso Fazendeiro and Miguel Oliveira won today, against Italian rivals, the bronze medal in the men’s padel tournament of the European Games, Portugal’s ninth in Krakow 2023.
In the main square of Krakow, outdoors, Simone Cremona and Marco Casetta started ahead, with 7-6 (8-6), however, the Portuguese duo turned around, winning the second seven, 7-5, and the third by 6-0, thus guaranteeing the bronze, the first podium of the modality in Poland.
Portugal already has nine medals in the European Games, namely three golds, three silvers and three bronzes, and today paddle tennis joins canoeing (four podiums), athletics (three) and karate (one) in the national medal table .
The third edition of the European Games runs until July 2 in Krakow and in the Polish region of Malopolska, with 30 sports on the program and 48 participating countries, including Portugal, which has a delegation of more than two hundred athletes.
