EITHER skater The Portuguese Gustavo Ribeiro was fourth classified on Monday in the Rome stage of the Pro Tour, a street skate event scoring for the Olympic ranking.
The Portuguese athlete, who was always in the top positions in the previous qualifiers, ended up falling to fourth place, with 256.43 points, in a race won by the American Nyjah Houston, with 276.51, who surpassed the Japanese Sora Shirai, second, with 263.36.
“Unfortunately I did not manage to reach the final with my best performance. In the first ‘race’ I lost my last maneuver, but we are all human beings and, unfortunately, I did not manage to reach my goal, which was to get at least one medal,” he told the end the Portuguese athlete.
Gustavo Ribeiro stressed, however, that fourth place “is not the worst result in the world”, because, although he was not satisfied with it, he also had the goal of adding points for the Olympic ranking.
“My goal in Rome was to win points for the Olympic circuit. I’m still in second place in the world ranking, no one has managed to lower my position, now it’s time to focus on the next stage in Switzerland, in two months. Nothing is lost, ”he concluded.
