Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s new club, announced this Thursday the signing of Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, in what is the return to the North American Soccer League of the 60-year-old Argentine coach.
Martino replaces England’s Phil Neville, sacked earlier this month, on a contract whose term was not disclosed.
The new coach has already guided Messi for one season, at FC Barcelona, and in the Argentine team, which he led from 2014 to 2016.
Martino was Major League Soccer champion in 2018, with Atlanta United, and was released after having played the World Cup in charge of Mexico.
“I am very excited to join a great club like Inter Miami and I know that together we can do many great things. The club has the necessary infrastructure to be a great competitor in the region and I believe that with a lot of work and commitment. all of us can get there,” Martino told Inter Miami’s official channels.
