The Portuguese tennis player Frederico Silva did not manage to access the main draw of Wimbledon on Monday, when he fell to the Italian Matteo Arnaldi, 3-0, in the third and final qualifying round.
Frederico Silva, ranked 188 in the ATP ranking, lost to Arnaldi, ranked 78 in the world, 7-5, 6-4, 6-4, in a match that lasted two hours and one minute.
This was the Portuguese tennis player’s fourth attempt to qualify for the main Wimbledon roster, the world’s main grass tournament and third Grand Slam of the season, after the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
In singles, Portugal will only have Nuno Borges, the highest ranked Portuguese tennis player (68th ATP) and who will also be at Wimbledon in the doubles variant, together with Colombian Nicolás Barrientos.
Another participation in pairs will be that of Francisco Cabral, partnering with the Brazilian Rafael Matos.
