Cova da Piedade is using all means to stay in professional leagues

Cova da Piedade will use all legal means to take the place “which is rightfully theirs” in professional football competitions, the president of the Almada club told the Lusa agency today.

“Whatever the level, logically Cova da Piedade SAD will participate next season and will not fail to make every effort to restore the truth and take the place that is rightfully due to it,” emphasized Paulo Veiga.

In a statement, the south bank of the Tagus club said it had asked the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) for “consultation access” of sports companies’ licensing processes for League competitions, claiming “own knowledge and even the public opinion” that some “contain evidence of irregularities that may exclude candidates”.

“We have requested the analysis of the documents, but we did not get access until Wednesday,” confirmed Paulo Veiga.

On Monday, Sporting da Covilhã, relegated to Liga 3, also said it had requested consultation of the licensing processes for the next season from the body, which had shown “to be available to access the request, exclusively, on July 6, at 10 :00”.

Cova da Piedade plans to take BSAD’s place in national competitions, following a merger agreement with Codecity, a sports company headed by Rui Pedro Soares, which was approved this year by the members of the club.

After the BSAD’s relegation to Liga 3, the club awaited the publication of the list of clubs licensed by the LPFP for the professional leagues of the I Liga and II Liga, expecting to secure a place in the professional championships to take.

Especially since last month the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) did not accept Cova da Piedade’s licensing process for Liga 3, leaving the club “in the absurdity of meeting the licensing requirements to enter a professional league”. [II Liga]but not that of an inferior competition [Liga 3]”, then revealed the Piedans.

Regarding this process, “the appeal is ongoing” from Cova da Piedade, Paulo Veiga confirmed to the Lusa agency, adding that it is about “the certification of youth football” that the FPF “understands that the BSAD is not complies “and the club understands that yes.

In addition, the official explained that “at the moment” there is already “only Cova da Piedade SAD”, after the club acquired the sports rights of the former BSAD.

Regardless of the outcome of both appeals filed with the entities managing the II Liga and Liga 3, the Cova da Piedade SAD project “continues”.
