While waiting for Ancelotti, Fernando Diniz takes over the Brazilian national team for a year

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has announced that Fernando Diniz, the current coach of Fluminense, will become the new coach of the Brazil national team, while Carlo Ancelotti will take over after the Copa America 2024.

The CBF added on Tuesday night that it will hold a press conference today “on the hiring of coach Fernando Diniz to lead Brazil’s men’s football team”.

Meanwhile, the entity that manages Brazilian football has released a video of Diniz, 49, wearing the famous ‘canarinha’ shirt.

“A dream for everyone. An honor and a huge pride to be able to serve the national team,” said Fernando Diniz, who will stack the position of coach of the Rio de Janeiro club with that of the Brazilian national team.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed that Fernando Diniz will hold the position for one year.

The new coach will remain in charge until the 2024 Copa America, scheduled between June 20 and July 14, after which Italian Carlo Ancelotti, the current Real Madrid coach, will take charge of the Brazilian national team.

Diniz has a “game proposal that is almost like that of the coach he will take over from the Copa America, Ancelotti,” said Ednaldo Rodrigues.

The Brazilian team has been without a coach since last December, when Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, better known as “Tite”, stepped down as coach following their elimination in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar against Croatia.
