The home of PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was searched last Wednesday as part of an investigation into allegations of detention, kidnapping and torture in Qatar of a French-Algerian lobbyist, a source close to AFP said.
“The investigating judge has requested additional information and access, which has been provided in a full and transparent manner, in full cooperation with the authorities, as has been the case from the beginning,” a spokesperson for the PSG chairman responded, quoted by the news. agency french news.
The search was carried out by the judicial police as part of an investigation opened at the end of January following a complaint by lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahmane, a procedure that almost always allows for the opening of an investigation.
Lobbyist Benabderrahmane said he had been kidnapped and interrogated by local authorities for six months, particularly over documents in his possession that might endanger Qatar’s PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
He explained that he was placed under house arrest and was finally allowed to leave Qatar in November 2020, after signing a confidentiality protocol committing himself not to disclose these documents.
In addition, searches related to this case were also carried out last week in law firms and in Paris City Hall under the leadership of former minister Rachida Dati.
Lawyers for Nasser Al-Khelaïfi announced in April their intention to file a libel suit against the lobbyist.
