England was crowned this Saturday, for the third time, European under-21 football champion by beating Spain, 1-0, in a final played in Batumi, Georgia.
In the decisive match of the Eurocup, which was played in that country and in Romania, Curtis Jones scored the only goal of the match, at 45+4 minutes, by inadvertently deflecting a free-kick taken by Cole Palmer, with Abel from Braga . Ruiz wasting a penalty at 90+9, which would give Spain a tie.
Without any level title since 1984, England, executioner of Portugal in the quarterfinals, added the third trophy, two of the record holders being Spain and Italy.
