Larry Nassar, the former US gymnastics team doctor who was convicted of sexually assaulting gymnasts, was stabbed during a prison fight in Florida, United States.
According to the Associated Press, the attack took place last Sunday and Larry Nassar is in stable condition on Monday.
Sources claim the former doctor was stabbed multiple times in the back and chest during a struggle with another inmate.
According to the news agency, the prison was understaffed and those assigned to Larry Nassar’s unit were working overtime. One of the police officers was actually on his third consecutive shift and the other on his second.
The former doctor is serving a 40-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting athletes.
This case came to light in February 2017, when three former gymnasts denounced the doctor’s abuse on the 60 Minutes program. Since then, more than a hundred youths have broken their silence and accused Larry Nassar.
