Real Madrid’s Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti will be judged by tax evasion after failing to declare revenue from image rights in 2014, a Spanish court said on Wednesday.
Carlo Ancelotti “acknowledged” the facts that led to a deficit of 386,361 euros to the treasuryThis is evident from a court document consulted by the France-Presse news agency (AFP).
“It is clear that there is sufficient evidence to believe that the facts under investigation constitute an alleged crime to the detriment of public finances,” the judge in charge of the Madrid investigation said in these documents.
The Italian declared his income as a Real Madrid coach in 2014, but not from image rights and other sources of income, the documents show.
The court, on the other hand, rejected a complaint from the tax authorities in 2015, when the coach was resident for tax purposes in the UK.
Ancelotti, 64, coached Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015, before returning to the ‘Meringues’ bench in 2021 for three years. At the end of his contract, in June 2024, he should be appointed as national coach of Brazil.
