Reinforcement for Jorge Jesus. Milinkovic-Savic signs for Al Hilal

Serbian international footballer Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has moved from Lazio to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal after signing a three-year contract until 2026, the club led by Portuguese Jorge Jesus announced on Wednesday.

The Riyadh shield confirmed the signing of the 28-year-old player, first through a video uploaded to social networks that showed Milinkovic-Savic’s father, former soccer player Nikola Milinkovic, who was a member of Desportivo de Chaves and Alverca, and then through a photograph of the medium signing the bond.

Although Al Hilal did not disclose the amounts involved in the deal, the Italian press reports that the Saudis will pay 40 million euros (ME) to Lazio, while the player will receive around 25 ME for each of the three years of contract.

Milinkovic-Savic represented the Roman club in the last eight seasons, having established himself as one of the main ‘figures’ of the team, with whom he played 341 games and scored 69 goals, helping the ‘laziali’ to finish the last edition of the Serie A in second place, in what was the best classification since 2000, when they were transalpine champions.

This is the third major signing that Al Hilal has secured for the new season, after Malian center-back Kalidou Koulibaly (ex-Chelsea) and Portuguese international midfielder Rúben Neves (ex-Wolverhampton).

Al Hilal, which finished third in the Saudi League last season, is led by the Portuguese Jorge Jesus, who returns to the club after passing through it between 2018 and 2019.
