Portugal will face Italy again in the final of the European Under-19 Football Championship, after the Italians defeated Spain 3-2 on Thursday, in the second semifinal of the competition that takes place in Malta .
After Vignato (52 minutes) and Pisilli (66) scored for the Italians and Barberá (58) and Gasiorowski (74) had equalized twice for the Spanish, the decisive goal for the Italians came from Lipani (85).
Italy will thus be Portugal’s rival in the final on Sunday, at 9:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. in Lisbon), with the Portuguese thrashing Norway in the other semifinal, 5-0, with goals from Gustavo Sá, Hugo Félix, Rodrigo Ribeiro, twice, and Carlos Borges.
The two teams have already faced each other in this Euro Cup, precisely a week ago, in a match on the second day of Group A that ended with a resounding victory for the team from the corners, 5-1.
This will be the third time that Portugal and Italy meet in the final of an Under-19 Euro Cup, with the transalpines winning the 2003 duel (2-0) and the Portuguese prevailing in 2018 (4-3), the only that the ‘quinas’ team won in the previous five they played.
