FPF offers incentives to clubs that hire women for technical teams

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has approved a measure to encourage the hiring of women in club coaching positions in non-professional national competitions, the body announced this Friday.

In a statement released on the official website, the FPF points out that the measure comes into force this season, 2023/24, seeking, in this way, “to promote and guarantee continuous improvement in football and futsal”.

To the candidate clubs, the FPF will grant “monetary support as an incentive for a global amount of 1,000 euros in the 2023/24 season” and that “it will be granted only once per team”.

Clubs and sports societies that participate in national soccer and futsal competitions may apply, with the exception of cups and tournaments that already enjoy aid for the same purpose, such as the Women’s Soccer League, second division of the women’s national championship, League 3, Men’s Futsal League and Women’s Futsal League.

Only sports clubs and societies that “commit, in the 2023/2024 season, to present a coach with TPTD may join this fund. [Título Profissional de Treinador de Desporto] valid member of your technical team”.

In the same note, the FPF adds that the coach must be included in the technical sheets in at least 80% of the matches of that team.
