Government of Spain “supports” the inclusion of Ukraine in the Iberian candidacy for the World Cup

The Government of Spain expressed this Tuesday its “support” for the inclusion of Ukraine in the joint Iberian candidacy for the organization of the 2030 Soccer World Cup, considering that sport and peace must always be together.

“It is clear that the Government would support the inclusion of Ukraine in the Iberian candidacy for a reason: linking sport with peace is always good news”, justifies the spokesperson for the Executive, Isabel Rodríguez.

The English newspaper The Times reported on Monday that the governments of Portugal and Spain had already agreed to include Ukraine in the proposal, as had its president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

On Wednesday, at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, the presidents of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Fernando Gomes and Luis Rubiales, respectively, will promote a press conference to talk about it.
