The Portuguese soccer champion, Benfica, and the winner of the Portuguese Cup, FC Porto, will fight this Wednesday for the conquest of the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, at the Estádio Municipal de Aveiro.
After some weaknesses revealed in the preseason, the eagles and dragons have the first big test of the new season, with the focus on new faces, although the basic structure of the two teams must be maintained.
Regarding Super Cup victories, the usual destination has been the Estádio do Dragão, given the 23 trophies the dragons amassed, more than all other winners combined: Sporting (nine), Benfica (eight), Boavista (three) Vitória de Guimarães (one).
Benfica’s eleven: Vlachodimos, Bah, António Silva, Otamendi, Ristic, João Neves, Kökçü, Di María, Aursnes, João Mário and Rafa.
FC Porto XI: Diogo Costa, Pepê, Pepe, Marcano, Zaidu, Grujic, Eustáquio, Otávio, Galeno, Taremi and Namaso.
Benfica substitutes: Samuel Soares, Morato, Jurásek, João Victor, Florentino, Chiquinho, Schjelderup, Tengstedt and Musa.
