French international footballer Wissam Ben Yedder, striker of Monaco, has been charged with crimes of rape, attempted rape and assault, for events that took place in July in Beausoleil, AFP reports this Friday.
According to the French news agency, citing a judicial source, Ben Yedder was arrested and later released on €900,000 bail in a case in which the player’s younger brother is also accused of the same crimes.
At the heart of the investigation by the Nice judicial police is a complaint filed in July by two women who alleged that they had been coerced into sexual acts by the 32-year-old player and his brother, in Beausoleil, in the south of France.
In April, Ben Yedder had already been sentenced to six months and one day in prison by a court in Seville, with a suspended sentence, for “knowingly falsifying [a declaração anual de rendimentos]to exclude income” which he would be obliged to declare to the Spanish tax authorities.
