Venezuelan cyclist Leangel Linarez won the 2nd stage of the Tour of Portugal and rose to the top of the general classification of the race. It is the second consecutive victory for the runner Tavfer – Ovos Matinados – Mortágua.
In a sprint finish in Vila Franca de Xira, the Venezuelan was faster than the Spanish Miguel Ángel Fernández (Burgos – BH) and Daniel Barbor (Caja Rural).
The previous yellow jersey, Rafael Reis, was unable to compete with the sprinters and lost the lead.
This Saturday, the peloton will travel 191.8 kilometers between Sines and Loulé, in a stage that has two fourth-category mountain counts and a slightly ascent finish.
