Leangel Linarez defends the leadership of the Tour of Portugal in a new stage for sprinters

The Venezuelan cyclist Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua) debuts this Saturday with the yellow jersey crossing the south of the country, with the third stage of the 84th Tour of Portugal marking the return of the Algarve.

Winner of the first two stages in a row, Linarez will seek to defend the overall lead, but also to achieve the third consecutive victory at the end of the 191.8 kilometers between Sines and Loulé, a city that returns to the Tour track after 20 years of absence

The third round starts at 12:15 pm, on Avenida Vasco da Gama, in Sines, with the peloton covering 54.6 kilometers until reaching the first flying goal of the day, in Odemira.

They are followed by those of Ourique (102.7) and Almodôvar (131.3), in a route in which the main difficulty will be the high temperatures that will be felt.

Even so, before reaching Avenida José da Costa Mealha, in Loulé, at around 5:25 p.m., on the return of the race to the Algarve after a five-year absence, the cyclists meet two fourth-category mountaineer counts, in Pico do Mú (151.2), and on the Asunta Cross (185.3).

The third stage will once again be reserved for sprinters, with Linarez paying special attention to the Czech Daniel Babor (Caja Rural), who is second overall, seven seconds behind, a recoverable disadvantage with bonuses distributed at the end and on flying targets. The Portuguese Rafael Reis (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) is third, in 10.
