Roberto Mancini has resigned as Italy coach, the Italian Football Federation announced on Sunday.
In a statement, the organization says it learned of Mancini’s resignation on Saturday afternoon, adding that the next Italian coach will be announced “in the coming days.”
The reasons for this decision by Roberto Mancini are not yet known.
Mancini was named Italy coach in May 2018 after Italy failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup under Giampiero Ventura.
A former international, Mancini won Euro 2021 with Italy but then failed to qualify the team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
