SC Braga “cannot relax” in the second leg of the third round of the Champions League after beating Backa Topola 3-0 in the first match, coach Artur Jorge said Monday.
The way is open for Braga to reach the play-off for access to the Champions League group stage, after the home win last Tuesday, with goals from Bruma (17 minutes), Pizzi (19) and Álvaro Djaló (87), in a practically one-way game.
“We want to have a serious approach to win and reach our goal. We cannot relax in whatever, that requirement has to be present, all the games are important and we have to fight to win in all of them”, said the coach, in the previous press conference, shortly before the departure of the delegation from Minho to Serbia.
Artur Jorge said that he expected “an opponent very similar” to the one he played in Braga, especially in the second half, “with a more balanced team up front, because they want to reverse an unfavorable 3-0”, a result that “Sporting de Braga He achieved it with a lot of merit from the team and the players, with a lot of commitment”, he considered, adding: “It is this commitment that will dictate success in this game”.
Asked if he will manage the squad taking into account the championship game on Saturday, in Chaves, the coach stressed that “the most important game is tomorrow.” [terça-feira]”.
“[Este jogo] It is going to demand a lot from us, we have a very rich squad, with various solutions, players who can occupy the same positions and with a very similar value, we are going to present the best team for the game”, he said, guaranteeing José Fonte’s title, seated next to you at the press conference.
SC Braga lost, at home, against Famalicão (2-1), on Friday, in the opening of the championship, an unexpected defeat that Artur Jorge wants the players to feel.
“We have to feel the pain when we lose. Those who play for Sporting de Braga have to be dissatisfied and disappointed when they fail to win. The demands of Sporting de Braga make them like that. They have done something else”, he reinforced. .
The coach recalled the “physical break” against Famalicencias, recalling that the substitutions he made were to try to stop him, with the exception of Banza, and stressed that he had “little time” to train.
“We are going to 50 days of work and we have had little time to work on what we would like. We have been doing an adequate job for those who have games every three days, little time for qualitative training, we have been working more on tactical aspects so that the team can equalize, but this is the reality, ”he said.
Confirming the pass to the play-offs, it will be the third time that Braga has played this previous phase of the ‘Champions’, after having beaten Seville in 2010/11 and, in 2012/13, Udinese, being the one who at that time he was only playing in this tie, against the Italians.
In the play-offs, the last ‘barrier’ before the group stage, whose entry immediately grants some 25 million euros to Minho’s ‘coffers’, the team led by Artur Jorge will play with Panathinaikos or Marseille, with the Greeks winning 1-0 at home in the first leg.
The match between Backa Topola and SC Braga will take place starting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the TSC Arena, in Backa Topola, and will be refereed by the Danish Jacob Kehlet.
