This Tuesday, Panathinakos eliminated Marseille on penalties in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League and is SC Braga’s rival in the play-off for access to the group stage of the competition.
After Panathinaikos won 1-0 in the first leg, the match at the Velodrome ended 2-1 in favor of Marseille after 120 minutes. Aubamayang scored both goals for the French in the first half and the Greeks equalized in added time by Ioannidis, from the penalty spot.
The result did not change in extra time and the tie was only decided on penalties. There, Panathinakos won 5-3.
SC Braga thus faces the Greeks in the play-off for access to the group stage of the Champions League. The first leg is played in Portugal on Wednesday of next week, with the match in Greece scheduled for the following Tuesday.
