Casa Pia and Sporting face each other this Friday in the opening of the second round of the First Soccer League, in a derby that the two teams reach after victories in the debut and that takes place in the ‘borrowed’ Municipality of Rio Major.
For this season, Casa Pia, still pending work on the Pina Manique Stadium, will host home games a few kilometers away, more specifically from Rio Maior, the scene of Sporting’s reception today (20:15).
With the return last season, 83 years later, to the highest category, Casa Pía played two games against the ‘lions’, in the first round defeated in Alvalade by 3-1 and in the second by 4-3, then in the also lent the Estádio National.
The two teams reach this second round with the comfort of making their victorious debut in 2023/24: the Casapianos with a thrashing in the field of promoted Farense (3-0) and Sporting with a ‘scare’, but saved in discount, in home against Vizela (3-2).
In the second round, champion Benfica, who lost in their debut, hosts Estrela da Amadora on Saturday (8:30 p.m.), after Sporting de Braga visits Desportivo de Chaves (6:00 p.m.), while that FC Porto takes to the field on Sunday, at home, against Farense (6:00 p.m.).
