The first goal of the Sporting Paulinho striker against Casa Pia was poorly validated and the video referees will be suspended for the match on the second matchday of the First League, the Arbitration Board announced on Friday.
In a clarification to the Lusa office, the Arbitration Council (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) pointed out the “error in placing the point that defines the offside line”, in the “bid for the first goal of the match Casa Pia – Sports”.
“Instead of being placed at the foot of the Sporting striker [Paulinho] it was on the shoulder which led to an analysis error. The goal should not have been awarded as the player was nine centimeters out of the game.”said the CA of the FPF after the meeting in Rio Maior.
Sporting added their second victory in as many matches of the Portuguese football league, beating Lisbon’s Casa Pia 2-1 at the ‘borrowed’ Ribatejo venue.
“The CA regrets what happened and announces that the video referee team of the game will be out of the nominations indefinitely”concludes the federal arbitration body.
Former referee Hugo Miguel, from the Lisbon association, was the video referee (VAR) for the match, assisted by Rui Soares, from the Santarém association structure.
