This Saturday, Sweden won the bronze medal of the Soccer Women’s World Cup for the second time in a row, beating Australia 2-0 in the match for third and fourth place in the competition.
The Swedes, who had been eliminated by Spain in the semifinals, scored through Fridolina Rolfo, in minute 30, from a penalty, and Kosovare Asllani, in minute 62, against an Australian team that had been eliminated by England in ‘the half’.
Sweden, runner-up in 2003, finished a World Cup in third place for the fourth time, after 1991, 2011 and 2019, while Australia, one of the hosts, achieved its best participation in history, taking into account that in the previous seven participations it had never gone beyond the quarterfinals.
The final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, between Spain and England, is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 8:00 p.m. local time (11:00 a.m. in Lisbon), in Sydney.
