Fatoumata Diallo eliminated in the 400 meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships

The Portuguese Fatoumata Diallo was this Monday far from the semifinals of the 400 meters hurdles of the World Athletics Championships, in Budapest, with seventh place in the fourth series of the qualifiers.

Fatoumata Diallo, 23, made her debut in individual competitions at the World Cup, after having competed in the 4×400 meter relay, with a time of 56.03 seconds, which earned her 26th place among the 41 present, but far from goals.

“I wanted more. I’m very happy to be here, among the best, but it didn’t go well for me and I have to keep working and improving my technique over the hurdles. It has been a great experience, I wanted to beat my record and get the national record and what I wanted did not happen”, lamented the CO Pechão athlete.

Born in Guinea Conakry, Fatoumata Diallo became the second best Portuguese woman in history this year, with a record of 55.57 seconds, only surpassed by the national record holder Vera Barbosa (55.22, since 2012).

“It didn’t work out, but athletics is like that. There are ups and downs. I have to work to be better next year, ”she promised.

The Dutch Femke Bol, who played the same series as the Portuguese, dominated this phase, with 53.39 seconds, in a clearance that “closed” at 55.29, the time of the last of the four catches, the German Eileen Demes.

The semifinals of the 400 meter hurdles will be played on Tuesday, starting at 8:25 p.m. local time (7:25 p.m. in Lisbon), and the final on Thursday, at 9:50 p.m. (8:50 p.m.).
