Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has undergone back surgery and will miss Manchester City’s next two Premier League games, the English and European champions announced on their official website on Tuesday.
“Pep Guardiola underwent routine surgery today for a back problem. The Manchester City manager has been battling severe back pain for some time and has been flown to Barcelona for surgery.”is in the memorandum of ‘citizens’.
Guardiola will make the recovery in Barcelona and will therefore stay out of training sessions with Manchester City and matches with Sheffield United and Fulham in the coming weeks, both counting towards the Premier League.
The team in which the Portuguese Rúben Dias, João Cancelo and Bernardo Silva appear, is led in that period by Juanma Lillo, Guardiola’s assistant.
Guardiola is expected to return to the ‘citizen bench’ on September 16 in the game against West Ham, after the break for national team matches.
