Kiss controversy. The Spanish Federation disputes Jenni Hermoso’s version with images

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Saturday disputed Jenni Hermoso’s version of the kiss of Luis Rubiales, president of the organization, with footage attempting to show it was the player who lifted the manager into her arms.

In a statement released this morning, in response to statements previously issued by Hermoso himself, who denied that the kiss was consensual, and the players’ intention to resign as long as there are no changes to the federation, the RFEF says “to respect as it has respected the decisions of all players on whether or not to participate in the national team in international competitions, although participation in the national team is an obligation for all federated people, if called up”.

This federation adds that it will use all means to “defend the honorableness of the President of the RFEF, who has clearly exposed how the events took place that have been the cause of conflict and ridicule from broad sectors of the society against the president”.

Luis Rubiales said at the federation meeting held on Friday that the kiss on the mouth he gave Hermoso in celebration of winning the Women’s World Cup was “spontaneous, mutual, euphoric and consensual”, and that it was the player who lifted him off the stage. ground.

Hermoso later responded via the FutPro union, stating that he “at no time” agreed to the kiss: “Under no circumstances have I attempted to lift the president. I will not tolerate my word being questioned and, much less , that Words have been invented that I have not said”.

In this new note, the RFEF collects four images with Rubiales in the player’s arms, which the organism says are “conclusive proof that the president has not lied.”

“The RFEF and the President will demonstrate any of the lies being spread, either by someone on behalf of the player or, if necessary, by the player himself,” the note read.

Also as a result of Friday’s general meeting, the president of the Association of Futsal Players (AJFS), José Miguel Ruiz Cortés, has resigned from the RFEF’s board of directors, joining several others who have taken place within the RFEF.

“Because of what happened at the Extraordinary General Assembly and in agreement with the association’s board of directors, I have submitted my resignation, disagreeing and strongly condemning the events,” the released statement read.

The controversy arose on Sunday during the celebration of the unprecedented world title of the Spanish women’s team, when Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the mouth at the time of the award ceremony.

Numerous critiques of what happened followed, with Hermoso, after a first draft, saying that everything happened in a moment of greater euphoria, stating that he had not consented to the kiss.

After several days of heavy criticism from various sectors of society, the RFEF held an Extraordinary General Assembly, in which Rubiales was expected to resign, which did not happen, prompting another spike of opposition. The views have been extreme, with the players announcing they are unavailable to represent the squad as long as the current RFEF leaders remain in office.
