Portuguese judoka Raquel Brito won the gold medal at the Kiyoshi Kobayashi European Cup, for seniors, in Vila Nova de Gaia, where she won four matches.
Raquel Brito, who competes at -48 kg, defeated Argentina’s Keisy Perafan in the final, in a bout decided by ippon.
The Portuguese team, which will participate in this competition in Vila Nova de Gaia with 49 judokas between today and Sunday, also had Emerson Silva (-60 kg) and Thelmo Gomes (-73 kg) in the finals of the respective categories.
In the men’s lighter category, Emerson Silva won three fights only to give up against Kazakh Kanat Seilkhan to take the silver medal, while Thelmo Gomes reached five fights and lost to Italian Luigi Brudetti in the final.
At -52 kg, in a category with only seven registered judokas, Portugal’s Jimena Esparza had two fights, with one defeat and one win, and took the bronze.
