Roma reach an agreement with Chelsea to take over the loan of Lukaku

Roma have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukako on loan, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Monday. According to the publication, the loan will be for one year with no purchase option.

With this transfer, the London club will recover 5.8 million euros for a player whose annual salary is 7.5 million. According to the same Italian sports newspaper, Lukaku’s arrival in the Italian capital to undergo medical examinations is scheduled for this Tuesday.

At the Italian club, the striker will meet again with the Portuguese coach José Mourinho, who was his coach at Chelsea and Manchester United. Hired by the ‘blues’ in 2021 for 115 million euros, after a first spell at the club between 2011 and 2014, Lukaku was loaned to Inter Milan last season.

Roma is especially active in the current transfer market. Last Saturday, the club brought Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun, who was at Bayer Leverkusen, on loan for a year with a mandatory purchase option.

In mid-August, the Argentine Leandro Paredes and the Portuguese Renato Sanches arrived from Paris Saint-Germain to reinforce the midfield sector.
