Figo is considering a candidacy for the Portuguese Football Federation

Luís Figo is considering a candidacy for the presidency of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), Expresso puts forward in this Friday’s edition. The former international will thus be able to succeed Fernando Gomes, the current chairman of the FPF, who will step down in 2024, because he will reach the three-term limit.

According to several sources contacted by the weekly, Figo will have been approached by practitioners to run for president of the FPF and is considering moving forward.

The 50-year-old former footballer will already have “the support of important personalities in the national leadership”, the newspaper writes.

Recall that Luís Figo even ran for president of FIFA in 2015, but eventually gave up the race and did not go to the polls.

Since 2011, the FPF has been led by Fernando Gomes, who will step down next year when he reaches the end of his third term and can no longer run for office by law.
