The Spanish players call a strike for the first two days

The players of the first women’s division of Spanish soccer, Liga F, called a strike for the first two days of the national championship due to low wages and poor working conditions, the players’ union, Associação de Futebolistas españolas (Associação de Futebolistas españolas) advanced this Friday. AFE) ).

“The call for this strike is a consequence of the stagnation in the negotiations of the Collective Agreement,” the AFE, the largest of several unions that negotiate together on behalf of the players, said in a statement.

“The objective is to advance in these negotiations, achieve fair and dignified treatment for the soccer players and address and reduce the existing wage gap,” the note reads.

Negotiations began a year ago, when Liga F became professional.

The first round of games will take place between September 8 and 10 and the second round between September 15 and 17.

Last season, a referees’ strike disrupted the first week of Liga F matches. The league finally agreed to pay referees higher fees for matches, while the Spanish government said it would contribute to a referee reform fund.
