This Monday, the Portuguese soccer team carried out the first preparation training for Friday’s duel against Slovakia, in the qualifying phase for Euro 2024, an event in which only 14 players were present.
In the main field of the Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, the coach Roberto Martínez had the goalkeepers Rui Patrício, José Sá and Diogo Pinto, sub-20, the defenders João Cancelo, Toti Gomes, António Silva and Danilo Pereira, the midfielders João Palhinha, Rúben Neves, Bernardo Silva and Otávio and forwards João Félix, Rafael Leão and Gonçalo Ramos, while the rest of the squad remained in the gym doing recovery work.
During the first 15 minutes open to the media, the available field players warmed up with and without the ball, as did the three goalkeepers, but close to the goal.
Portugal faces Slovakia in Bratislava on Friday, and three days later, on September 11, they host Luxembourg in the Algarve.
After four rounds, the team leads Group J, with 12 points, adding only victories, ahead of Slovakia, second ranked, with 10, and Luxembourg, third, with seven. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland have three points, while Liechtenstein is down to zero and bottom.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of the Eurocup, which will take place next year in Germany.
