The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) will award 806,000 euros in prizes to the participating clubs in the 2023/24 edition of the Portuguese Women’s Cup, practically triple compared to last season, the organization announced on Tuesday.
“The FPF board of directors decided to equalize the funds for the women’s and men’s competitions until the sixth round, while the women’s Portuguese Cup will play a previous round,” read a statement from the organization.
In this way, the presence in the previous Women’s Cup supposes two thousand euros for the clubs, an amount that increases to 12 thousand destined for the semifinals. The winner of the 20th edition of the Women’s Cup will raise 82,000 euros, while the finalists will receive 66,000 euros.
“This measure is one more step towards the development of women’s football in Portugal and is part of the investment strategy that the FPF has promoted,” the organization underlines.
Famalicão is the holder of the trophy, while 1.º de Novembro holds the record for achievements, with seven.
