Spanish MP files complaint against Rubiales for sexual assault

This Friday, the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint against Luis Rubiales, the suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), at the National Court, requesting an investigation into crimes of sexual assault and coercion.

It concerns the kiss on the mouth that Luís Rubiales gave to player Jenni Hermoso, after the Women’s Football World Cup, which Spain won in Sydney on August 20 with a victory over England (1-0). .

The Public Prosecutor’s Office considers that this action of Luis Rubiales was not consensual and could therefore constitute a crime of sexual assault and another crime of coercion against Jenni Hermoso, and therefore asks the Court to initiate proceedings against the director to open.

The position of the Public Prosecution Service against Luís Rubiales comes after Jenni Hermoso filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution Service. The player guarantees, contrary to the manager’s claims, that the kiss was not consensual.

Before the kissing incident, Rubiales had touched his own genitals in the stands of the stadium to celebrate the Spanish victory.

The two acts earned him complaints from the Spanish government to the Administrative Sports Court, which decided to open disciplinary proceedings against Rubiales, and the suspension of FIFA from the position of president of the RFEF for 90 days.

The events in Sydney were followed by numerous criticisms of Rubiales, who said he would not leave his position, causing a new peak of protest and extreme positions, with the national team players announcing their unavailability to return to represent Spain. as long as the current RFEF directors remain in their positions.

Eleven members of women’s coach Jorge Vilda’s technical team resigned.

For his part, the coach, who condemned the “inappropriate behavior” of the RFEF president, was dismissed from his position by the Spanish federation on Tuesday, following criticism from various sectors for having welcomed the speech in which Rubiales said he would not resign and that she was the victim of persecution by ‘false feminism’.

Now the court that received the complaint from the Public Prosecutor’s Office must decide whether or not to open criminal proceedings against Luís Rubiales.
