The president of FC Porto, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, said this Friday that there may be more renewals of players from the main squad, after the extensions of the contracts of João Mário, Zaidu, Pepê and Evanilson were made official.
“If we can renew for a longer time with all the players that interest us to be safer and have a team that does not force our coach.” [Sérgio Conceição] if we are inventing every year, we will do everything possible to make it so”, stressed the leader, in statements reproduced on the official website of the ‘blue and whites’ on the Internet.
FC Porto announced the extension of the contractual ties of defenders João Mário and Zaidu and forwards Pepê and Evanilson until 2027, which led Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa to speak of a “test of confidence” for “four good players and excellent professionals”.
“Of course we want to renew with all the players that the coach thinks are important. It’s not just these four, there are more. We are going to continue the conversations that we have already started with other players, but within the possibilities of FC Porto, since we have some limitations even due to UEFA’s own regulations”, concluded the president of the ‘blue and whites’, highlighting the will of the “maintain this group for many years” structure.
FC Porto, runner-up in the I League, with 19 points, three behind undefeated leader Benfica, will face Portimonense, sixth, with 15, on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., in a match for the ninth round of the championship, with the arbitration of Manuel Mota, of the Football Association of Braga.
