Sporting tries to finish the sixth day at the top of the I Liga

This Monday, Sporting seeks to equal FC Porto at the top of the Portuguese Football League, when it travels to Vila do Conde to face Rio Ave, in a match that closes the sixth day.

‘Excited’ by two consecutive victories at home, in the league preview against Moreirense (3-0) and on Thursday against Sturm Graz (2-1) in their Europa League debut, the ‘lions’ travel to Vila do Conde will try to reach first place in the I Liga, after the previous leader, Boavista, fell on Sunday against Sporting de Braga (4-1).

Before the match that closes the sixth day, Sporting is in third place, with 13 points, the same as the ‘ladies’, being three behind FC Porto and two behind Benfica, which occupies second place.

Starting at 8:15 p.m., Rúben Amorim’s team will face a team from Rio Ave that has not won since the first day of the championship, but has drawn in the last two games of the I Liga.

Vila Condenses is currently in 13th position, with five points, but could rise to ninth place, in case of victory, also moving away from the bottom of the table.
