Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday and won his second world title due to a sanction imposed on Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) after the race.
In a race shortened to less than an hour due to rain in Suzuka, Verstappen managed to complete 28 of the 53 laps before the three-hour time limit to complete the race expired.
The Dutchman finished the Japanese GP with a lead of 26.763 seconds over Leclerc and 27.066 over the Mexican Sérgio Pérez (Red Bull), who rose to second in a swap with the Monegasque after the Ferrari driver was penalized five seconds for leaving off the track in the penultimate corner of the race, when he was defending Pérez.
With this 12th victory of the season in 18 races, Verstappen reaches 366 points, 114 more than Pérez, when there are 112 in dispute in the four races that remain to be played.
