FC Porto wins the Continental Hockey Cup for the second time

Last Sunday, FC Porto won the Continental Roller Hockey Cup for the second time in its history, beating Spanish side Voltregà 5-3 in the final in Catalonia.

In Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà, the European champion won, who had defeated HC Braga on Saturday in the semi-finals of the last fourreached half-time on a 1-1 draw with the Catalans, with Gonçalo Alves scoring for the ‘blue and whites’ in the seventh minute, and Jordi Burgaya for the hosts in the ninth.

FC Porto succeeds Valongo as winners of the competition and wins the second Continental Cup in its history, after lifting the trophy in 1986.

In addition to the ‘dragons’ and Valongo, the competition was also won by four other Portuguese teams, namely Benfica (three times), Sporting (twice), Óquei de Barcelos (once) and Oliveirense (once).

The Continental Cup, which took place in Catalonia, met last four the European roller hockey champion, FC Porto, the European number two Valongo, the winner of the European Cup, Voltregà, and the number two in the same competition, HC Braga.
