Sporting’s SAD has approved the proposal for a variable remuneration for the executive members of the Board of Directors, which determines the absence of bonuses based on sporting performance, the leader of the Portuguese First Football League announced on Tuesday.
“As regards the 2022/23 season, there was no variable compensation because, despite achieving some sporting and financial objectives, the fact that the Sporting team was placed in fourth place made any variable compensation completely unattainable,” explained the chairman of the club. Bernardo Ayala recalled that Sporting finished in fourth place last season because it could not compete in the Champions League, and that “any classification below third place absolutely prevents any variable reward”.
The proposal for the variable remuneration to be awarded to the executive members of the Company’s Board of Directors, drawn up by the Shareholders Committee and relating to the 2022/2023 financial year, was approved by majority vote, as were the other five agenda items. with 1,263,354 votes in favor, 18 votes against and 23 abstentions.
This includes the deliberation on the management report and the annual accounts for the year ending June 30, 2023, referring to the 2022/23 season, which presents a positive net result of 25.2 million euros.
The SAD of the Lisbon club also approved the proposed results of the previous year, the remuneration policy for members of corporate bodies, the report prepared by the Board of Directors on remuneration relating to the 2022/23 financial year, and the overall assessment of the administration and supervision of society.
