FC Porto was punished with a closed match at the Estádio do Dragão, for incidents that occurred in the victory over Moreirense, of the I Liga, the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) revealed this Tuesday.
In a statement, the organization explains that the club received a match behind closed doors, plus a fine of 5,610 euros, for “qualified failure to comply with other duties”, in addition to a fine of 3,060 euros for “serious attacks on spectators.” and other participants”.
The events date back to August 14, when FC Porto beat the newly promoted Moreirense with a comeback (2-1), on the first day of the 2023/24 edition of the I Liga.
The blue and white, who occupy third place in the competition after eight rounds, with 19 points, three behind the isolated leader Sporting and two behind the national champion Benfica, had already been subject to a two-match suspension at the Estádio do Dragão in July 2022. . .
At the time, the FPF CD justified this sanction, plus a fine of 25,245 euros, with the “qualified failure to comply with duties” and the “throwing of objects without impact on the game” during the reception to Sporting (2-2) . , for matchday 22 of the 2021/22 edition of the I Liga.
Defending that these events were due “solely” to the behavior of elements outside its structure, FC Porto appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which granted the precautionary measure and suspended the measure of the federative body.
