The Portuguese team returns to training this Wednesday, in what will be the last session at the Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, before leaving for Porto, where they will face Slovakia on Friday, in the qualification for the Euro 2024 football championship.
Portugal has a session scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with the first 15 minutes of training open to the media, after coach Roberto Martínez had on Tuesday the 24 players who are in training.
The initial list was 26, but first Raphaël Guerreiro and then Ricardo Horta were released from work, both due to injury.
Before today’s training, at 5:15 p.m., also at the Cidade do Futebol, a player yet to be named will speak to journalists at a press conference.
On Thursday, Portugal plans another training session, but already at the Estádio do Dragão, in Porto, the scene of the duel with the Slovaks.
Portugal will face Slovakia on Friday, at 7:45 p.m., and, in case of victory, qualification for the final phase of the next European Championship is automatically guaranteed. Three days later, on the 16th, the national team plays in Bosnia-Herzegovina, at 7:45 p.m. (Lisbon time).
After six days, the Portuguese team remains completely victorious and leads Group J with 18 points, five more than Slovakia, second classified. Luxembourg is third, with 10, followed by Bosnia and Iceland, both with six, and Liechtenstein, still without points.
In addition to six victories in the same number of games, Roberto Martínez’s team has a record of 24 goals scored and none conceded.
In November, Portugal closes the qualifying phase with a trip to Liechtenstein and welcomes Iceland.
The first two places in the group give direct access to the final phase of Euro2024.
