Trubin goes from hero to villain and Benfica draws at home

Benfica could not change the situation chip from the Champions League to the I League and got a home draw against Casa Pia (1-1). Without Bah, Kökçü and Musa due to last-minute physical problems, the national champions struggled to impose their game from the start, but went into halftime with the lead thanks to a spectacular goal from João Mário in the 44th minute.

In the second half the Geese were better and after wasting a penalty they scored the equalizer in the 81st minute. Trubin saved Felippe Cardoso’s penalty in the 54th minute, but turned from hero to villain in an instant, allowing Gaizka Larrazabal’s shot to go between his legs… towards the goal.

At the end of the match, António Silva, seeing the referee disallow a goal for offside, hit the post (90’+2′). And so Benfica conceded points at home in the ninth round of the I League. The team left the field with many whistles and some white handkerchiefs for Roger Schmidt who waved in the stands of Estádio da Luz.

Despite the draw, Benfica moved into the provisional lead in the championship, with 22 points, the same as Sporting, who play at home to Boavista on Monday, while Casa Pia is in 10th place with 10 points.
