Dutch striker Bas Dost, who represented Sporting between 2016 and 2019, fell lifeless on the grass this Sunday during a match between AZ Alkmaar and NEC Nijmegen, the team he currently represents.
Television images show the forward falling to the grass in the 89th minute, with the play continuing until AZ lost the ball in the rival area. The referee stopped the match and the medical teams from both clubs and the one waiting at the stadium entered the field to help Bas Dost.
While medical treatment was being provided, players from both teams formed a circle around the venue.
On X (formerly Twitter), NEC Nijmegen already announced that the player regained consciousness and was removed from the field of play. In response to the publication, several Dutch clubs wished the forward the best.
Sporting has already wished the former player the best.
The match, corresponding to the Dutch championship, was “definitively” interrupted, the club also writes on the same social network, at a time when the NEC was winning 2-1, with a goal and an assist from Bas Dost.
AZ’s goal had been scored by Pavlidis, in a match in which the Portuguese Alexandre Penetra was a starter for Alkmaar and Tiago Dantas was on the bench.
Those responsible for football in that country confirmed the abandonment of the match counting for the tenth day.
