Sporting defeated Estrela de Amadora 3-2 tonight in Alvalade to maintain first place at the national football championship.
The Lions opened the scoring in the first half with a goal from Daniel Bragança in the 33rd minute.
But in the second half Estrela da Amadora turned the result around. First with a penalty from Léo Jabá in the 50th minute, after a hand from Coates. And five minutes later with a goal by Kikas (55′).
Sporting equalized in the 71st minute thanks to an individual move from Marcus Edwards, who dribbled past several Estrela players before beating António Filipe.
The Lions did not give up looking for an advantage on the scoreboard, with Paulinho putting Sporting ahead again in the 79th minute.
Undefeated in this championship, Sporting returns to first place, having gained 28 points, overtaking Benfica, who occupied the lead on Saturday and are again second, three points behind their rivals in the next round. Estrela da Amadora, who had won the two previous matches for the I League, is ninth with 11.
